Interval
Training
An interval is the distance
between one note and another.
Track 9 You will hear various intervals, each played twice. The first interval you will hear is a third (1 followed by 3). The next interval is a fifth (1 followed by 5). Try to name all the intervals that follow.
(This is a
college-level exercise used for centuries to teach ear
training.
It will be difficult, but remember: it is the trying to do it that
will teach you.)
Harmony Training
(Tracks 1 - 8)
Start with Track 1 and sing a
third above each note of the scale.
For tracks 2 - 8, instead of singing the next
note, etc., sing a third above it.
Finding the Key of a Song by Ear
Track 10 You will hear two melodies. As each song plays try to find its key by ear and sing it while the song continues.
(Do not use a musical instrument to help.)
CD #2
This CD has nineteen
songs which you probably have not heard before.
As each song plays
try to find its key by ear and sing it while the song continues.
Each day
try to find the keys faster and faster.
(You may use a musical instrument to help.)
Important: As the course progresses try to find the notes, intervals, and harmonies faster and faster.
