 ANALYSIS OF CRAZY

1.    Technically the F chord should be an F7, but the fact that F works well in this song shows that a seventh is not always necessary. Use your ear to decide.

2.    The G7, however, does need to be a seventh.

3.    Review the chromatic root motions of the dim. chords (Music Theory I).

4.    Transpose the chart of Crazy to the key of D. It's easy. Just count up a major third from the chords in Bb. For example, Bb becomes D, B° becomes D#°, etc.

5.       simile mark: repeat whatever was played in the previous measure

6.    rit.   ritardando: gradually slow the tempo

7.           fermata: prolong the chord, stopping the tempo for a moment
