Singing
for Those Who Can't Sing

Stage One
―Foreground and Background CD Track 1 (Turn on speakers.)1. Sing the note you hear on Track 1. Let it fill your mind. Experience matching the note you are singing with the note on the CD. Enjoy your connection with the note for a very long time each day.2. Sing with the note again. But this time keep your attention on the note and not on your voice.
3. Now switch your attention back and forth from the note on the CD to your voice, and back to the note on the CD.
Stage Two
― Louder and Softer Track 11. Sing the note for one minute.
2. Now begin to sing the note louder, slowly increasing
in loudness (volume). Don't change the note (pitch).
Stage Three ― Two Different Notes
Track 23. As with the previous stages, sing the notes.
4. Now begin to sing the first note louder, slowly
increasing the volume.
5. Now sing the second note louder.
Stage Four
― Muscle Memory 1. Silent Singing: Close your eyes. Form your voice
muscles for the
two long notes and sing them
silently. Try to be very aware of every
detail of the
changes in the muscles as you change notes.
2. Now sing a song silently and be aware of the muscle
changes before
you silently sing the note.
3. Now sing the two notes being sure to form the
muscles
before you sing the note. Do not slide into
the note. Sing it
exactly.
4. ASR: Attack, Sustain, Release.
Stage Five
― Solfege and Sight Reading Track 31. Sing Sight-Reading Exercise #1. As you do so be aware of what your voice muscles for each note.

2. Now ‘Silent Sing’ the exercise.
3. Use hand motions to show the changes in the pitch.
4. Now do the same with Sight-Reading Exercise #2.

Stage Six ― 1. Happy Birthday
Track 52. Happy Birthday (with key change each time)
